Bethania Rehabilitation Centers
In addition to serving and strengthening South India’s most at-risk children through live-in homes, day care centers, and vocational training programs, Bethania Kids extends its mission to the education and nurture of children with special needs.
Located in the hill station of Kodaikanal, C.S.I. Rehabilitation Centre ministers to children stricken with cerebral palsy, polio, and mental disabilities. Speech, hearing, and visual impairments are also issues that are addressed. Daily services include Diagnostic Day Care (54 children w/ roundtrip bus transfers), residential programs (40 children), vocational training (24 young adults), and on-site orthotics manufacture.
Founded in 1992 by the Church of South India, Bethania Kids have played a significant role in supporting C.S.I. Rehabilitation Centre’s programs since 1995.
Also in the Kodaikanal area, Bethania Kids provides two additional facilities for special-needs children. Bethany Respite Centre offer daily physiotherapy and other services to six young men ages 20 to 30 years old.
Serving rural communities since 1996, Special School Poombari provides a host of specialized services to 35 children of varying disabilities. Reports program administrator M. Paramadass, “the center provides special education, physiotherapy, medical care, orthotic aids, noon meal and counseling to the parents. We also offer doctor referrals and raise community awareness for the school through public relations activities.”
