    Samuel’s family was affected by the tsunami in 2004 and they were forced to move to a different city. Having lost nearly all their possessions, Samuel’s parents were not able to care for him. We took him into our Bethel Boy’s Home in Kodaikanal. He had difficulties speaking when he first joined us, but through speech training at school and at the home, he is now able to communicate with ease.

    Keerthika lost her father to a heart attack when she was only two months old, and she lost her mother when she was seven. She was cared for by her uncle and grandmother for a few years, but they were not able to afford her education and other expenses. Keerthika recently received an open-heart surgery to correct a condition called Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). She lives in our Shalom Home in Kodaikanal where she is excelling in school and is very happy.

    Both of Steepha’s parents are farmers living far below the poverty line. When she was a very young child, her parents were able to provide for her. Tragically, a few years ago, her mother was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Being unable to provide for her anymore, her parents sent her and her sister Jenifer to our home in Nagercoil.

    When Raja was a very young girl, her father committed suicide. Her father had married two women, leaving both of them stranded after his demise. Raja’s mother went to work at a brick factory but was unable to care for Raja, so her mother sent Raja to live with us in our Nagercoil home.

    Paven Kumar

    Paven Kumar comes from a village calle Nandigampadu, near Rajahmundry, India. Both of his parents live below the poverty line and most work long hours nearly every day in order to survive. Because of their conditions, they were unable to support their son and asked Bethania Kids to care for him.

    Manoj Kumar

    Directly after his birth, Manoj Kumar’s father abandoned their family. Being from a very poor background, his mother could not afford to take care of him. She moved back in with her family and asked Bethania to care for her son. We took Manoj under our care in 2010 shortly after he turned nine years old.
