More Reasons To Sponsor

There were an estimated 31 million orphans living in India in the year 2009 according to a report by Unicef. That’s more orphans than the entire population of Australia! And in a country of over 2.1 billion people, that is a lot of orphaned children.

Bethania Kids provides nourishment and care for one thousand children daily. The staff managing our homes know every child by name and they provide individualized care for each of the children’s needs. Take Keerthika for example. She had a heart condition called Atrial Septal Defect which meant that she needed an open-heart surgery. The home managers rallied together and reached out to local organizations to help raise the necessary funds for her operation. You can see in the picture below that she was surrounded by people who loved her through the entire process. They are people she has come to love and trust and whom she considers to be family.

When you become a sponsor, you will be linked to one of the children in our Bethania Kids homes. Every year you will receive updates and a new photograph of the child you sponsor. You will be able to see what classes he or she is taking, how well they are developing, and what his or her career goals are.

“Bethania Kids is important to me because, as Mother Teresa said, “if you can’t feed a hundred children, feed just one.” I developed the Sponsor A Child Program because I wanted donors to feel more personally connected to poor children in India. Everything that Bethania does supports these beautiful Indian children. Also, I believe that “to whom much has been given, from him much is required” (Luke 12:48). It is my joy to serve with Bethania Kids!”
