CSI Rehabilitation Center
The CSI Center in Kodaikanal was initially founded for children and young adults with physical and mental disabilities, using the model of Jesus showing special compassion for the disabled. The loving and compassionate staff at this CSI Center has given these previously neglected and devalued people a new-found dignity and purpose in life, thereby giving them hope for the future. Children with cerebral palsy as well as those who are deaf and mentally challenged are educated by kind and patient teachers.
Young children who otherwise would be left at home with little care or education are taught to walk with braces, are helped to sit on their own and are trained in basic body functions. A former student in a wheelchair now teaches computer skills and another graduate makes prostheses. Meanwhile, young adults are taught to make biodegradable products like paper bags and cups, leaf plates and pottery, some of which are used at local restaurants. Proceeds from the sale of these goods go to the children or young adults in the CSI Center to help them support themselves or their families. Bobby (Director of the CSI Center), and the rest of the staff here are true reflections of God’s love in this special ministry.
