From Support to Service

Lisa Smit | October 20, 2026

Akash is a proud alumnus of a Bethania Kids Care Center. He is a self-employed freelance photographer, a husband, father, and an active member of his community. His journey is a powerful reminder of the lasting impact your compassion and generosity can have on a child’s future.

Coming from a family of modest means, Akash faced significant challenges during his childhood. The support he received through Bethania Kids provided him with a safe and caring environment, educational opportunities, and the encouragement he needed to develop confidence to continue his studies.

From Education to Independence

With this foundation of support, Akash went on to complete a degree in electrical and electronics engineering. Alongside his technical education, Akash discovered a passion for photography. He developed his skills and eventually turned his interest into a career.

Today, he works as a self-employed freelance photographer, while continuing to draw on his electrical skills whenever needed. His journey reflects his determination to learn, adapt, and create opportunities for himself.

A Family Connected to Bethania Kids

Akash is now married to Dharani, who holds a nursing degree and is also a Bethania Kids care center alumna. Together, they have two children. The family’s continued connection with Bethania Kids is a beautiful reflection of how the impact of care can extend across generations.

Giving Back Through Service

Akash believes strongly in helping others and giving back to the community. He regularly contributes to church and community activities.

He willingly offers his photography and electrical skills whenever his support is needed. Recently, he shared his electrical expertise with the children at Bethania Kids care centers. He demonstrated how electrical circuits and fuses work with hands-on activities.

Like other alumni, Akash is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the center that once supported him. He hopes that other children will also have the opportunity to develop their abilities and contribute positively to their families and communities.

The Bethania Kids Journey Continues

His journey reminds us that the impact of supporting a child does not end when that child grows up. The education and values nurtured today can become a source of strength for families and communities tomorrow.

From a child receiving support at Bethania to an adult giving back—Akash’s story is a testament to the lasting power of investing in a young child’s life.
