The Bethania Kids computer literacy programs teach marketable computer skills to women living at the poverty level who want to provide a better life for their families.
Our first computer training center opened in Kodaikanal in 2023 with 40 women enrolled. Most of the students are mothers who, along with their families, will benefit greatly from their newly acquired marketable skills. Their morning begins with prayer, Bible reading and song. This is often the first time these women have heard of Jesus and his love for them. Next, they begin learning keyboarding in Tamil and English and then progress to more advanced skills. The morning also includes time to practice spoken English, a valuable skill in India. The center offers a supportive environment where women receive encouragement from the staff and other participants as they work through the many life challenges they face.
Since the inauguration of the computer training center in Kodaikanal, similar programs have been started near other Bethania Kids ministry sites, for a total of 4 computer training programs. Each of these centers represents a way your donations empower women to help support themselves and their families.
Meet Mrs. Rajeswari
Mrs. Rajeswari was among the first group of graduates of the Bethania Kids computer training program. Mrs. Rajeswari was married when she was only 16 years old. Her husband has a low-paying job and is an alcoholic. When she first heard about the free Bethania Kids computer training program, she had a 12-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter and was eager to find a way to help support her family. After completing the program, she found a job at a computer center as a computer teacher. She is also taking correspondence courses to further her education. She now leads by example in the community and is self-assured in all she does. She expresses her gratitude to Bethania Kids donors for providing her with this opportunity.
