The new Shalom Home for Girls in Batlagundu is rapidly taking shape. The workers are living in the area while construction is in progress. The reinforcing steel was just delivered, and the second floor will be in place soon. Dr. James Gnanakan, the Director of Operations in India, checks the progress frequently as do other staff members in nearby Kannivadi.
In the new home, there will be space for 48 girls total with 4 bunk beds to a room. Two rooms will share a dormitory-style bathroom. A large dining room and an assembly room will be included, as well as a clinic, library-computer room, a counseling room and an office. In addition, a large kitchen and wash station are in the plans and a conference or “visitors’ room.” There is currently a campaign to furnish and equip the home. If you or your organization would like to help, see the donation page on this website to choose a package comfortable for your group. The girls can’t wait!
